De Germanico
A brief introduction to my weblog on Europe. Here I publish articles on subjects in fields of history, culture, travels and many other aspects of life in Europe.
I believe that the name Germanicus is relevant with the area which I prefer to write about. It is the romanised Western Europe. My interest focuses particularly on the legacy of the Roman civilisation which still echoes on present European societies.
Gemanicus was a Roman prince, son to emperor Tiberius. Germanicus was a honorable title granted to him as a reward of his military successes in Germania, in Northwestern Europe. It was due to the Roman conquests that was started under Julius Ceasar which shaped the course of the history in Western Europe.
Historical records account that Germanicus was a righteous man who had appreciation for art and literature.
